What is DOP (dioctyl phthalate)?
DOP — also known as DEHP (di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate) — is a clear, oily liquid plasticizer. When blended into PVC, its molecules sit between the polymer chains and allow them to slide past each other, making the finished plastic soft, flexible and easier to process. The more DOP you add, the more flexible the PVC becomes.
It is the industry benchmark plasticizer because it offers a strong balance of plasticising efficiency, low cost and good all-round performance.
